Job Description

Salary: $178,500 - $205,000 annually.

Location: Eugene, OR – This position is remote.

The SVP of Marketing ensures the success of marketing and communications strategies and initiatives. They are a significant contributor to achieving progress against goals to enrich the lives of the members of OCCU. The SVP of Marketing fosters collaboration, advocates for exceptional member experience and serves as a change agent who strives to meet the goals and objectives of OCCU’s Strategic Plan.

Leadership:

  • Work within all OCCU guidelines, policies and procedures, including approval processes.
  • Lead through OCCUs vision and values by communicating their importance, modeling aligned behavior, motivating action in others and rewarding and recognizing achievement.
  • Leading through organizational change by identifying and driving organizational changes needed to adapt strategically to changing market demands, technology, internal initiatives, catalyzing new approaches to improve results by transforming organizational culture, systems or services.
  • Execute strategic decision making by obtaining and monitoring industry information, identifying key issues, evaluating organizational gaps and developing strategic relationships needed to achieve long range goals for the organization.
  • Demonstrate a keen understanding of business operations and organizational levers such as systems, processes, departments and functions that drive profitable growth. Draw from personal experience to quickly evaluate business plans and processes to identify data or recommendations needed for further development.
  • Generate and consider options for action to achieve goals, develop decision criteria, consider factors such as cost, benefits, risk, timing and buy-in. Select an appropriate strategy for success.
  • Translate strategic priorities into operational reality. Determine action steps, milestones, success metrics required to implement business initiatives.
  • Ensure strategies are carried out by monitoring results over time and adjusting as needed.
  • Identify and develop human resources capabilities to drive specific strategies needed to support business current and future needs.
  • Clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas to individuals and teams, communicating in a focused and compelling way that effectively cascades relevant information to impacted teams ensuring that they understand organizational goals and objectives.
  • Coach and develop teams by providing feedback, instruction, and development guidance to help teams and leaders excel in their current and future job responsibilities. Plan and support the development of individual skills and abilities as well as department/organizational competencies needed for success.

Strategic Planning:

  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of strategic plans for OCCU.
  • Make significant strategic and tactical contributions to the formulation, development, implementation and administration of OCCU strategies, business goals and objectives.
  • Develop, propose, gain acceptance for and implement operations programs and strategies.
  • Participate in the establishment of rolling departmental budget forecasts and monitor performance throughout the year.
  • Track and report regularly upon specific strategies and initiatives.

Role Specific:

  • Demonstrate expertise in disciplines of inbound, content, social, digital and traditional marketing, product development and marketing analytics as well as supporting the organization in brand strategy and management, digital strategy and member experience.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a proactive, integrated marketing strategy to broaden and strengthen OCCU’s brand identity and awareness among target stakeholder audiences and support organizational goals.
  • Continuously evolve the brand strategy, including brand framework, value propositions, messaging, visual identities and brand awareness. Oversee the development of annual marketing plans that align with the OCCU Strategic Plan.
  • Serve in a leadership capacity with product line stakeholders, gathering insights and data from stakeholders to inform marketing strategies, initiatives and promotions, as well as provide updates about marketing activities and progress against goals. Lead the development and execution of product line launches, enhancements and ongoing promotions.
  • Ensure all messaging and visual design produced by the organization aligns to brand strategy and standards, collaborating with colleagues to encourage alignment of their work.
  • Champion interactive channels as a key strategic and tactical component of overall business and marketing plans.
  • Lead development and execution of content delivery strategy. This includes, but is not limited to the OCCU website, email marketing, digital signage, member education and third-party platforms.
  • Lead development of digital marketing strategy, including Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Search Engine Marketing (SEM), retargeting and display.
  • Oversee the optimization and maintenance of all marketing technologies, including ongoing maintenance of the OCCU website and owned digital properties.
  • Lead strategic implementation of marketing automation through campaign development and tools.

To thrive in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of ten years of experience leading comprehensive, retail-oriented marketing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic marketing plans, tactics and promotions.
  • Proven ability to leverage digital marketing, social media, content strategy, marketing automation and data analysis to meet business objectives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills and the ability to think strategically and programmatically to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Well-reasoned decision-making skills with a high attention to detail in actual work product, organization, planning, workflow and project prioritization to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong organizational skills are necessary for managing heavy workloads and multiple tasks, creating documentation, and maintaining accurate OCCU records.
  • Financial industry experience preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising or communication or equivalent experience required. Master’s degree in relevant discipline preferred.
