Gibson McIlvain is more than just materials and with our comprehensive architectural millwork facility, we offer custom millwork services from interior trim and cabinetry to exterior siding, pergolas, and furniture.
We are seeking a proficient and safety conscious heavy terrain Forklift Operator to join our growing team. As a Forklift Operator, you will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient handling of lumber and materials within our facility. This position may also involve Order Filler and Checker duties as required.
Job Responsibilities:
Operate a forklift to safely and skillfully move, locate, relocate, stack, and count lumber.
Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift and may be responsible for performing Order Filler and Checker duties.
Receive and put away inbound shipments, ensuring the safe movement of lumber to storage locations.
Stack and store lumber efficiently and securely in designated areas.
Maintain quality control by ensuring accuracy and inspecting inbound and outbound shipments for damage, promptly reporting any discrepancies.
Prepare lumber for shipment, following order instructions, and ensuring precise loading and delivery to specified destinations (e.g., Mill, Kiln, Stacker, Vision Talley).
Perform picking duties efficiently, meeting customer service standards.
Keep scrap bins empty to facilitate Mill and Yard cleanliness.
Load lumber onto trucks or trailers from staging and storage areas with efficiency.
Utilize forklifts, clamp trucks, or other powered equipment to handle and move lumber and materials.
Operate hand-held radio frequency equipment for inventory, picking, receiving, put-away, and load functions, as required.
Maintain the Company's equipment and materials in an organized and clean manner, conducting daily inspections and performing minor equipment maintenance.
Operate all equipment following prescribed work methods to ensure safety and efficiency.
Maintain accurate records and reports to uphold tight inventory control and security.
Assist in physical inventories and support proper stock rotation.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
Valid forklift operator certification
Proven experience as Forklift Operator or in a similar role
Ability to operate various types of forklifts and other power equipment
Strong attention to safety protocols
Proficiency using hand-held radio frequency equipment
Efficient organizational and record-keeping abilities
Basic maintenance skills for equipment upkeep
Reliable transportation to White Marsh, MD.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm
Ability to work outdoors, year-round regardless of weather elements
Must pass pre-employment drug screening (including marijuana)
